Rolling Up Our Sleeves for the Community

When we recite our school pledge—“We teach to touch life forever”—we mean it in every sense of the word. The 2018 E.C. Blood Donation Day held at our lush, green Hawassa campus was a profound demonstration of this commitment in action.

Set against the beautiful outdoor backdrop of our grounds, medical professionals set up donation stations where our brave students and staff calmly rolled up their sleeves to give the gift of life. It was an inspiring sight to see so many young women stepping up with empathy and courage to support our local blood banks.

We were also honored to have our leadership, including Mr. Wegene Atenafu, standing proudly on the grounds, supporting and encouraging the donors. Leadership is about setting an example, and seeing our administration stand shoulder-to-shoulder with our students reinforced the deep sense of social responsibility we cultivate here. A single drop of blood can save a life, and the Union Academy family proved once again that our compassion knows no bounds.
